* Size: Pieces should be between the size of a tennis ball and 12”H x 8”W.

* Form: Aim for uniform thickness. Avoid plate forms and delicate/thin appendages.

*For slip saggar, you may burnish your greenware pieces with terra sigillata at our studio before the bisque fire

* Long pants and closed-toed shoes

* Long hair must be tied back

    PAST WORKSHOP: Naked Raku 5.9.26

Naked Raku, a fascinating technique that is often explored in pottery workshops and ceramics classes, gets its name from the unique firing process. During this process, the outer layer of slip applied to the pot falls away, revealing the 'naked' surface beneath. By harnessing the essential elements of fire, water, air, and earth (clay), this method allows for endless variations, ensuring that each piece created is truly one of a kind, much like the masks crafted in a mask-making workshop. Additionally, artists can experiment with sgraffito techniques to further enhance their creations.

PAST WORKSHOP: Sgraffito Workshop: Sat, 4/18/26

Join us for a hands-on exploration of sgraffito techniques—derived from the Italian word for 'to scratch.' In this ceramics class, discover the beautiful carving method that allows you to create stunning depth and contrast by revealing layers of clay through lines and textures.

This workshop is all about slowing down, working with your hands, and discovering how surface can become a space for drawing. Whether you’re new to ceramics or already participating in pottery workshops, it’s a chance to try something expressive and a little meditative.

    Come carve with us 🤍

Our instructor will guide you on how to use tools to carve beautiful designs through a colored top layer, unveiling the natural clay beneath.

You’ll get to choose your favorite from a variety of handcrafted plates to serve as your canvas. Whether you use our templates or your own custom designs, you’ll be supported every step of the way as you carve your vision into the leather-hard clay. All materials and kiln firing are included, and rest assured, the clay and glaze we use are food safe.

No experience is necessary—just bring your creativity! This workshop is perfect for dates, solo crafting, or group fun. And if you’re interested in mixed media, check out our mask-making workshop as well!
